Welcome to the West Coast Paddlers Flat Water Symposium Page.

What Is It All About?

West Coast paddlers are a new Kayaking club, we have just had our first birthday and we have aspirations to be bigger and better! We would love to have our own purpose built facility, changing rooms, rolling pool, gym, wet classroom you know the kind of thing! We went to the lottery, and they have agreed to help, this symposium is part of a feasibility study to prove our need!

We want to invite you to what will be an excellent day of coaching and a social event worth talking about, we have lined up some excellent coaches from all over the country all of whom are happy to share there expertise with you, we have some amazing sponsors and supporters, we will have what is probably the biggest range of demo boats available in Scotland this year and we will finish the day with a BBQ and hot chocolate!

Because we are lucky enough to have the help of the national lottery we are offering you a place in our symposium for only £20.00 this gives you access to coaching sessions and BBQ on the Saturday and the choice of guided trip on the Sunday.

Why A Flat Water Symposium?

The wind is howling, the waves are crashing white all around you, the rain is in your face and the noise of it all is squashing you in to your kayak, your body is tense and stiff from what if and to top it all your meant to be learning! I know I have felt like this I wasn’t learning I was surviving hoping I would get to the end, there was no way I was going to try a cross deck something or other I was in survival mode!!

Lots of paddlers have experienced this sort of learning, whilst it works for some it doesn’t suit everyone.

Whilst we can't guarantee the sunshine, we are pretty sure at our symposium we will find you some flat water hopefully out of the wind, taking the environment out the question will hopefully help you discover and learn a few things about handling your boat!

You never know maybe even allowing you the opportunity to try out some of your newfound skills on the Sunday.
